Description
Created in collaboration with Thomas T. Høye, as a part of Bjørndalen Integrated Gradients (BIG) with the support of the Olav Thon foundation and the University Centre in Svalbard. The aim of the series is to get data on flower – pollinator interactions, but the series also gives detailed information on the flowering phenology of the plants. The series consists of photographs taken 1 meter above a plant (either S. aculis or D. octopetala) at a 90° downwards angle. Photographs were taken at 1-minute intervals*, using a Wingscapes BirdCam Pro mounted on a costume made quadpod. The dataset contains images from 3 summer (Jun-Aug) field seasons in 2019, 2020 and 2021. In the summer of 2019, 8 individuals of S. aculis and D. octopetala were photographed. In the summer of 2020 and 2021 10 individuals of S. aculis and 8 individuals of D. octopetala. The same individuals were used in all seasons, with an exception for camera placement of D. octopetala changing from 2019 to 2020. Metadata of photographs also contain temperature readings. *Parts of the series contain images at lower intervals, but no during flowering.
