RegObs observations, Master Thesis, Lisbeth Larsen (UiO)

The dataset consist of observations that have been registered close to Fonnbu avalanche research station during the winters modelled for my master thesis between 2019-2024. The observations were logged by date and type of observation. The categories I used for the dataset were snow cover, avalanche activity, weather, stability tests, snow profile, avalanche problem, danger sign and danger assessment. In RegObs, avalanche activity is documented even in the absence of observed avalanches. As my focus in my master thesis was to identify periods when the snowpack was unstable enough for avlanches to occur, I chose to only log the observations where avalanches actually had occurred. This was also done in cases when there had been no observation in any of the other categories. Additionally, I included any registrations of bigger single avalanche events into the avalanche activity category. Images that had been put in the note category were included in their respective categories. In cases where observations had been registered more than once, only one registration was logged. Lastly, I marked any preventative avalanche releases and glide avalanches that occured during the period in my dataset.
